George R. R. Martin is an American novelist and screenwriter, born on September 20, 1948, in Bayonne, New Jersey. He is best known for his series of epic fantasy novels, “A Song of Ice and Fire,” which has been adapted into the popular HBO television series, “Game of Thrones.” Martin began his writing career as a science fiction author in the 1970s, publishing several acclaimed novels and short stories. He later turned his attention to fantasy, and his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series has become one of the most successful and beloved works of modern fantasy literature. Martin has won numerous awards for his writing, including several Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker awards. He currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he continues to work on the remaining books in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.
