Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963), commonly known as C.S. Lewis, was a British writer, scholar, and Christian apologist. He is best known for his works of fiction, particularly The Chronicles of Narnia series, which has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and been adapted into multiple films. Lewis also wrote numerous books on Christian theology and philosophy, such as Mere Christianity and The Problem of Pain, which continue to be widely read and influential today. In addition to his literary accomplishments, Lewis was a respected academic, teaching at both Oxford and Cambridge universities during his career. He remains one of the most beloved and influential writers of the 20th century.
