Deborah Roberts is an American artist, born on February 21, 1962, in Austin, Texas. She is best known for her mixed-media collages, which combine images from popular culture with hand-drawn and painted elements. Roberts often focuses on issues of race, gender, and identity in her work, using her art to challenge societal norms and stereotypes. She has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Brooklyn Museum. Roberts has received several awards and honors for her art, including the Anonymous Was A Woman Award in 2018 and a fellowship from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in 2021. She currently lives and works in Austin, Texas.
